How To Boot Into Single User Mode

During your LILO startup where it pauses for 5 or 30 seconds, at the boot: prompt, if you type image_name 1, the boot will continue but you will be in Single User Mode.

EXAMPLE: On my dual boot system, my Linux image is named "Linux" and my Windows image is named "windoz". To boot into single user mode, at the boot: prompt I would type: boot: linux 1

TIP: If you did not install your system with a pause, you should really run liloconfig and put at least a 5 second pause in. Sometimes it's useful.
