plymouth
Plymouth is an application that runs very early in the boot process (even before the root filesystem is mounted!) that provides a graphical boot animation while the boot process happens in the background.
you can install plymouth on slackware from plymouth for which i use sbotools which is at sbotools
once plymouth is installed
edit /etc/dracut.conf.d/myflags.conf and add this line
add_dracutmodules+=" plymouth "
edit your /etc/default/grub to include
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="splash"
themes are in /usr/share/plymouth/themes
to view available themes
plymouth-set-default-theme -l
to set the theme
plymouth-set-default-theme <theme-name>
to list available themes
dracut --list-modules
load plymouth module
dracut --add-drivers plymouth
build new initrd
dracut --force /boot/initrd-<kernel-version>.img
update your bootloader to use the new initrd. i use grub2
grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
reboot
